Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – When it comes Puerto-Nayarit, there are plenty of things to do in this beautiful city where the fun never ends. Irrespective of any seasons, the city offers a complete entertaining environment to its visitors who come from far and wide places to spend their vacations here in Puerto-Nayarit.

When the winter season comes in this particular city, it brings lots of plenty of opportunities as well for the tourists to have some exciting activities near the Banderas Bay. Thousands of people from the United States and different other countries head towards the Banderas Bay to witness an amazing thrill of whale watching.

Every year in the late November, plenty of Humpback whales move from the cold waters of Alaska towards the warm waters of the Bay of Banderas. This annual migration brings huge excitements for both the locals and foreign tourists who get amused by seeing the whales.

Every year, the event official starts from December and lasts until the whales go back to the waters of Alaska. In 2017-18, the event has officially started from the 8th of December and already the city has welcomed plenty of tourists from different countries of the world who love to spend some time in the sea and by seeing whales in front of them.

In order to make sure the safety and protection of the Humpback whales, SEMARNAT keeps an eye of each tour. Every whale watching tour has to get an official authorization from SEMARNAT for its single vessel or corporate events. According to Rodríguez Medrano, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico, all the captains and crew members are provided adequate training every year especially for the whale watching season. In the training courses, they are given training and instructions about the standards they need to follow while taking tours for whale watching.

Every year, a flag is issued for this season that is called “whale watching flag”. For 2017-2018, the colors of the flag are white on the top with a green stripe in the middle, and a gray look on the bottom having a picture of a While in the middle. Every vessel that is going for a whale watching trip is required to wave this flag and also keep a copy of the permit.

Note: (If you are a tourist, you need to make sure that the vessel you are going to hire has a permit to go for a whale watching tour.)
